Farmers Learning Together
From the Soil Up

The Clydesdale Soil Health Network is a farmer-led community in South Lanarkshire, connecting growers and land managers to improve soil health and support regenerative, nature-friendly farming. Together, we build resilient farms, richer biodiversity, and stronger local food systems.

Strengthening Farmer-to-Farmer Learning

Our network facilitates regular farm walks, workshops, and discussions that enable practical peer learning and the sharing of regenerative farming experiences.

Shaping our Agenda Together

Improving Soil Health and Monitoring

We seek to promote a deeper understanding of soil as a living system by encouraging practical soil assessment and observation methods—such as worm counts, soil structure assessments, and water infiltration tests. By learning to interpret these indicators within the context of local soils, climate, and mixed farming systems in South Lanarkshire, farmers can better monitor soil condition, identify areas for improvement, and make informed management decisions that enhance soil function, productivity, and long-term resilience.

Promoting Regenerative and Agroecological Practices

Hands-on learning opportunities focusing on soil health and biodiversity improvement.

Enhance Biodiversity and Food System Resilience

Demonstrate how soil-focused land management can improve biodiversity, ecosystem health, and the quality of locally produced food.

Building a Supportive Regional Network

Creating a collaborative space where land managers can share knowledge, access support, and navigate environmental and agricultural transitions together.
